AEP Adopts National e-Invoicing System

Published by Vimla Balloo on

We are pleased to announce that AEP has adopted the national e-Invoicing system, effective from 15 May 2024. This initiative, launched by the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA), requires providers of products and services to fiscalise their invoices or receipts in real-time with the MRA before issuing them to customers.

Economic operators typically use an Electronic Billing System (EBS)—including Accounting Packages, Invoicing Solutions, Point of Sale (POS) systems, Electronic Cash Registers (ECR), or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems—to generate customer invoices.

Key Benefits of the e-Invoicing System:

  • Promotes a Level Playing Field: Ensures fairness in the business environment.
  • Aligns with Global Taxation Trends: Keeps Mauritius up to date with international tax practices.
  • Enhances Business Transparency: Fosters trust and clarity with external stakeholders.
  • Boosts Technological Readiness: Prepares economic operators for real-time invoice exchanges.
  • Strengthens Mauritius’s Business Image: Positions the country as an attractive business hub while enhancing tax compliance.

We are excited to be at the forefront of this technological advancement, contributing to a more efficient and transparent taxation process in Mauritius. Stay tuned for further updates.
